Libero Updates

Note from the Editor: Libero Started with a Story

Support our Nonprofit Magazine!

Before you start reading... There has never been a time when our community and content was needed more. Unlike other sites, we don't publish sponsored content or share affiliate links. We also don’t run ads on our site and don’t have any paywalls in front of our content–-anyone can access all of it for free.

This means we rely on donations from our community (people like YOU!) to keep our site running. We want to be here to support you all through this pandemic and beyond, which is why we are asking you to consider donating whatever you are able.

A single (or monthly) donation of just $5 will make a HUGE difference and will help keep our nonprofit running so we can continue offering peer support for mental health through our content.

Welcome to our new website and a new chapter for Libero! The last two weeks we were on hiatus as many of you know, and during that time we launched a new logo (yay!) and celebrated our 4-year anniversary.

In light of our anniversary celebration, I wanted to go “back to basics” this month with our theme, to reconnect with the core of Libero and the vision I had for it back in April 2010: sharing stories.lauren bersaglio

See, it all started with me sharing my story, and I found the more I shared, the more others wanted to share too. That’s when I got the idea to open up my personal blog to guest writers and, eventually, create the website you see here today.

The purpose of our Community Blog is to give others the opportunity to share their stories and for all of us to celebrate these amazing victories as we connect through similar experiences.

That’s one thing I’ve learnt – our stories connect us, bringing us together as a community and allowing us to see a purpose behind our struggles.

This month the team will be sharing their stories, and for those who have already shared, they will be sharing about their experience of sharing their stories (a “share-ception” as my friend put it *wink*).

If you haven’t yet shared your story or taken part in our “Free from” photo project, I hope this month you will consider it.

Sharing your story is a powerful experience – it isn’t always easily done, but I promise you there is a unique sense of empowerment and freedom when you do. And taking part in the photo project is just fun and celebratory in its own right! I can’t begin to tell you how many people bring up our “Free from” photo project to me and say how encouraged and inspired they are by the photos. It’s truly a unique experience!

I thought this month for my Editor’s Note I would go back to the beginning, and once again share my story – the story that started it all. And I hope this month you will join me, too! Read my story here
