As most of you know, I am a big fan of Dr. Seuss and I have made a hobby of trying to mimic his poetry style. This particular “Seuss-take” (as I like to call them), although it is quite general, I feel applies well to the process of recovery from an Eating Disorder. I hope you like it!
You Are Stronger than Strong!
Sometime in life you will hit a bump
and it will throw you up high
then you’ll land in a lump.
It will push you, then pull you –
this way and that,
you’ll want to give up –
and I understand that.
And your mind will twist truths,
as minds often do,
and tell you big lies like, “Weak describes you.”
But weak you are not –
you are stronger than strong!
So believe in yourself and tell the lies “Run along.”
Give yourself time to think it all out
and then you will see what I’m talking about.
So if you are down, or you’re feeling quite weak,
just take a deep breath and count to one, two, then three,
and then in a flash, you’ll see just like that
that you can do anything – I promise you that!
